Michael Borg

A desire to change up a fast-paced urban lifestyle drew Michael Borg and his family out west to the Okanagan after decades of working as a seasoned veteran in Toronto’s high octane hospitality scene.  Several years of getting to know the Kelowna marketplace allowed Borg to accurately identify the void in the local dining scene and understand the needs of customers he wanted to create an exciting restaurant atmosphere for.

As a result, Borg and his partners developed the sophisticated-yet-approachable Cabana Bar & Grille concept.  As an owner and operator, Borg currently oversees operations, administration, marketing and atmosphere at the restaurant.

Borg boasts an impressive list of accomplishments having spent over 25 years in Toronto’s restaurant, night club and hospitality industry.  As an owner, partner, operator or manager at a number of Toronto’s most popular and award-winning restaurants and night clubs,

Borg has worked with Gypsy Co-op, Fez Batik, Phoenix Concert Theatre and RPM.

He was heavily involved with hospitality leader, Liberty Group in the early 90’s and was a partner in the ultra popular Left Bank franchise while taking a lead role in spearheading  the creative vision, promotions and success of Liberty Group’s Phoenix Concert Theatre. Borg maintains partial ownership in Toronto’s Palais Royale and reamins involved with Greater Toronto’s hospitality leader, Pegasus Group.

His success can be attributed to his enthusiasm for the industry and the exceptional vision, work ethic and creativity he brings to each project coupled with his strong ability to implement operations, marketing and promotions elements.

Borg’s passion for restaurants, lounges and nightclubs began early and he found a natural aptitude for creating exciting urban environments for leisure and hospitality.  A rewarding career punctuated by excitement, music, celebrity and celebration, Borg’s work and life experiences

have helped Cabana Grille secure it’s place as a must-visit Okanagan dining experience.

Borg lives in Kelowna with his wife and two children.  He is passionate about the outdoors and enjoys spending time skiing on both water and snow and is a member of the Kelowna Search and Rescue Team.
